As my husband and I rung in the new year with our wonderful friends, we looked at each other and wondered how 2010 was ever going to top 2009?
I’m off to the Hunter Valley this weekend for a wedding and I am so excited – not only do I love a wedding but we also have a lovely weekend planned!
It’s an early start from Sydney; the boys have golf at midday and I plan on reading and sleeping! Then, dinner with our dearest friends at Robert’s Restaurant where my husband proposed almost two years ago.
Before the wedding we will enjoy a civilised wine tour of a couple of favourites and then an afternoon celebrating the love of a beautiful couple.
I am exploring Melbourne this weekend and can’t wait to share all my finds! Have a great weekend and enjoy the last few days of Winter!

The Sunday Telegraph always does a ‘Flashback’ feature on the weekly wedding page. This particular tale has captured my heart! It is the combination of a few things; they have been married for 60 years, it was a random, chance encounter, she fainted into his arms and it was love at first sight- so romantic!
That it happened somewhere I know well and have been often makes it all the more wonderful!
Happy 60th Wedding anniversary Madge & William!
The night before my wedding I checked into a gorgeous spa suite at the Hilton hotel in Sydney with my two maids for company. We crashed out with room service, watched ‘Father of the Bride’ and enjoyed a bubble bath in the enormous tub whilst taking in the Sydney sky-line via the enormous floor-to-ceiling window.
The suite was huge- 2 bathrooms, bedroom and a lounge area- gotta love the newly-wed (or nearly-wed) upgrade!
Conscious of getting enough sleep before the big day, I leapt into (the King size+) bed at about 10:30pm and….
No, this isn’t me sleeping prettily!
nothing!
Not.a.wink.of.sleep… for hours!!
Made all the worse of course by my Matron of Honour slumbering gently beside me! If only I had known my Maid was wide awake in the bed next to us- we could have chatted away for a while!
The Tuberose Diptique candle I’d brought along was lovely, but what I really needed was Lavender to calm those lovely yet sleep-depriving butterflies.
Only now have I discovered the Bridal Eve Survival Kit which is chock full of lovely things, many of them infused with Lavender which would have sent me right off for a fitful sleep!

The kit has everything to enjoy a relaxing night, and make sure you get up in time!
Get a good nights sleep with lavender bath salts, lavender soap, earplugs and a sleeping mask. There’s even some chamomile tea known for its calming powers! Indulge with Bloom lavender body butter and a candle and make sure you’re up in time with an alarm clock!
Got a great get-to-sleep tip for us? I’d love to hear it!

The brainchild of The Wedding Library and Brooklyn Bride, the Brooklyn Pop-Up Wedding Series is a month long, completely unique wedding event helping brides (and grooms!) plan their day- from stationary, dresses, bonbonniere… to the Martha Stewart Weddings Pop-Up Chapel!
A lucky few couples had the opportunity to marry in the custom-built chapel, right in the heart of Brooklyn.
It looks fun- brave couples! Would you get married in the heart of Brooklyn? Rundle Mall? A store on Oxford Street or Chapel Street?
Remember this fabulous tote? Well now there is a cute screen-printed version made from 100% cotton. Better yet, it’s eco friendly and available in Australia and is only $15.
And whilst I am sure few of you lovely ladies need an excuse to shop, this is definitely the perfect one…

I’m also loving these cute handmade clutches;
Wouldn’t they make a cute gift for your bridesmaids… or yourself
