Her name alone conjours images of fresh faced brides and timeless white wedding gowns, so when Vera Wang sends models clad in swathes of deconstructed chiffon, organza and tulle- in the decidedly nontraditional shades of ebony and nude- you just know that we’ll be seeing much more drama on the catwalk, and aisles this season. Is black the new white for weddings?

But, this gorgeous girl did it first in a stunning lace Rhonda Hemmingway gown (almost a year ago!) and to celebrate her first wedding anniversary, we’ll be sharing her pics with you oh so soon!

I love a bow almost as much as I love a ruffle, and this elegant 3-tier wedding cake in the softest shade of latte with big black bow and sweet lovebird cake-topper is oh so sophisticated!

Much of the detail of this charming wedding were handmade by the bride and groom. From the dried flower bouquets to the signs, the cigar station to the individual place setting, Angela and Carson made every detail- the groom even restored the getaway car- a very sexy 1972 black Karmann Ghia!
This creative couple clearly loved planning every detail of their romantic, rustic and vintage styled wedding, held in the backyard of the groom’s family home in Louisiana.
The ceremony took place under a spectacular Maple tree, with the couple’s 75 guests seated on hay-bales to witness the couple exchange of vows. The canopy of vases with fresh bouquets added to the romance of the outdoor ceremony.

In true Southern style, every guest was accommodated for with custom areas created. A picnic blanket with toys provided entertainment for guests children, while a stylish Whisky Bar was created for the gentlemen.

Two long banquet tables were decorated with a rustic, vintage style in mind with a strong concern for the environment. A mix of collected jars and vintage vases held dried floral arrangements while dinner was served on mis-matched vintage dinner services.

Congratulations Angela & Carson, and congratulations on a beautiful, heartfelt wedding day.

I adore a silhouette motif; a vintage hint, a clever take on black and white, and beautifully romantic. Note the bottom layer of this wedding cake? So subtle, but doesn’t it ‘make it’?

You know how some women have a ‘type’ when it comes to men? Well, a reader recently pointed out I have a ‘type’ when it comes to cakes. I had to agree, and this tulle topped confection from Cakeface personifies the whimsical, romantic designs I am most drawn too. The delicate floral detail and shades of cream, ivory and white has me swooning!

The ‘Heirloom’ wedding invitation suite from Akimbo evokes the feeling of unlocking nanna’s jewellery box. The classic monochrome palette and subtle letterpress give an understated elegance while the cameo design gives a subtle vintage touch.

The brushed silver and purple colour scheme gives this 3-tier wedding cake a regal character while the birdcage and sugar flowers add a vintage hint.

To me, anemone flowers are intriguingly beautiful. These black centred blooms are so unique, and provide a modern take on a black and white theme. Combined with lace however, they are romantic and fragile in their beauty.

Spring/Summer Fashion Week is showing in New York this week and we’ve edited our picks from the collections of some of our favourite designers to inspire you. Whether it was sculptural ruffles, fluid shapes or pops of colour, the looks were glamorous and feminine.
Jenny Packham
Feminine elegance ruled at Jenny Packham, reminding us why The Duchess of Cambridge is a fan. Silhouettes were flattering, with attention drawn to the waist.

Carolina Herrera
The glamour of the 1930′s inspired Carolina Herrera’s collection. Simple silhouettes are transformed by deco prints, beading and modern bright colours for an effortlessly chic look. Oh, how I covet the emerald green gown!

Vera Wang
The Vera Wang collection with its neon brights, transparent fabrics and wild patterns, was apparently inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

Rachel Zoe
Expectations were high for Rachel Zoe’s S/S 2012 collection, and whilst we’d expect nothing but a billion per cent glamour from the world’s most famous stylist, she certainly delivered. My favourite? The ruffled sleeve gown in the middle. And I can certainly see many a Summer bride in the strapless chiffon gown.

Marchesa
Marchesa never fails to impress, and Spring 2012 was big on drama with elaborate, sculptural designs in decadent fabrics. Brides, which gown would you choose?
